Jeri Lynn Kirschner is a movement professional motivated by dance and fitness since the age of four. She has practiced Pilates since 2004 and certified as an instructor since 2014. After rehabilitating from a debilitating knee injury, she discovered that dance and exercise could be merged to create effective and enlightening functional fitness routines for dancers and non-dancers alike. Her enthusiasm and motivational ability led her to pursue a career teaching Pilates, personal training, and barre.
She enjoys working with all populations that range from teens to seniors, people with injuries and chronic conditions, or athletes and dancers interested in increasing performance, and believes that mind/body fitness modalities are key therapeutic movement methods for building the strength, agility, and balance for enjoying a long, healthy life.
Jeri holds a B.A. in Communications from California State University, Northridge and a Certificate in Fitness Instruction from UCLA Extension. She is a classically trained Peak Pilates® Certified instructor and a Pink Ribbon Program, Inc. certified post rehabilitative breast cancer exercise specialist. Jeri is also an active member of the Pilates Method Alliance and maintains a valid Heartsaver CPR certification.
One of the reasons Jeri chose to certify with Peak Pilates is its requirement of 14 hours of continuing education credits every two years to maintain a valid certification. She takes this seriously and dedicates herself to staying up-to-date with the industry. She has completed coursework in a variety of topics including special populations, active aging, breast cancer, obesity, scoliosis, and Pilates apparatus.
In case you’re wondering where in the world the name “Tigercise” for a business came from, there’s actually a reason. Jeri was born in a Tiger year of the Lunar New Year, and it’s also her favorite animal. Tigers are fierce, independent, and powerful. Jeri believes these are great qualities for success in life. The rest of the name came to be because it rolls off the tongue easily and incorporates the ideals of functional movement, including Pilates.
