Integrate Pilates as part of a holistic treatment plan for your patients and empower them to improve their health by experiencing Pilates’ therapeutic benefits. Jeri works collaboratively with healthcare providers to ensure your patient is cleared to begin a Pilates program and understands any physical limitations and medications that may impact the workout.
Pilates is a functional movement system for the whole body that has demonstrated effectiveness in reducing pain and improving posture through the six Pilates principles of concentration, centering, control, breathing, precision, and flow. Patients will improve their strength, flexibility, and balance.
While Pilates is beneficial for everyone, these are some common chronic conditions where Pilates is especially helpful for improving function, overall level of fitness, and quality of life:

Post-Rehabilitation Breast Cancer Survivors
Pilates provides gentle yet effective therapeutic movement for breast cancer survivors ready to transition out of physical therapy. In addition to her certification in classical Pilates, Jeri also completed the Pink Ribbon Program Instructor Training and Corrective Shoulder Course. As a Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist (BCES), Jeri is qualified to assess, design, and implement individual and group exercise and fitness programs for breast cancer survivors who have completed physical therapy or are medically-cleared for exercise.
The Pink Ribbon Program, founded by Doreen Puglisi, MS, was created to help meet the goals of the breast cancer survivor. These major areas of concern typically include body image, frozen shoulder, and/or range of motion, depression and anxiety. Recent studies indicate a link between moderate physical exercise and improved quality of life for all cancer survivors. Exercise protocols like The Pink Ribbon Program in combination with Pilates are needed more than ever as the population of cancer survivors grows.
Beyond the physiological benefits, Pilates helps boost recovery by increasing confidence, self-esteem, feeling of well-being, and independence.
Active Aging
We retire too early and die too young. Our prime of life should be in the 70’s and old age should not come until we are almost 100.”
-Joseph H. Pilates
Baby boomers now dominate the senior market. After two years of a pandemic, chronic conditions and obesity are rising, which is especially dangerous for this population. One-third of all adults are now considered obese, partially due to a decline in physical activity.
It’s never too early or late to make positive improvements in your patients’ health through a Pilates program. Gains can be made at any age. Evidence-based research shows that Pilates can help older adults (and everyone for that matter) improve:
● Dynamic Balance
● Strength
● Aerobic Capacity and Aerobic Resistance
● Functional Autonomy
● Flexibility
● Emotional Health
● Short Term Memory Deficits
Pilates has also been shown to positively impact the six dimensions of wellness for elderly adults.
